Yes. Your child does not need to already attend a Jewish day school to be eligible. Families planning to enroll a child in a Jewish day school for the upcoming academic year can apply for a scholarship if they meet the other eligibility requirements.
Yes. If you have more than one child and meet the eligibility requirements, you can apply for a scholarship for each eligible child.
A final list of states that have opted in will be available on January 1, 2027.
The Opportunity Fund for Jewish Education will provide scholarships for Jewish day school tuition and disability or learning access. The IRS will provide final guidance on which educational expenses are eligible under the federal program.
Scholarship applications will open in 2027 for the 2027–2028 academic year.

The amount available depends on how much is donated. The more people who contribute, the more scholarship funding is available to eligible families.
The Opportunity Fund for Jewish Education will follow all federal requirements for awarding scholarships. Within those requirements, we intend to make scholarship decisions in partnership with local Jewish day schools and community partners.
The federal program can support eligible K–12 students in public, charter, private, and religious schools, as long as they meet the federal eligibility requirements and live in a state where the Governor has opted in.
Because public and charter schools do not charge tuition, scholarships may support other eligible educational needs, such as tutoring, disability services, books, transportation, technology, afterschool programs, and other qualifying expenses.
The Opportunity Fund for Jewish Education serves students attending or planning to attend Jewish day schools. Other Scholarship Granting Organizations may provide scholarships for students attending public and charter schools.
You make a contribution to The Opportunity Fund for Jewish Education. You can designate to a specific Jewish day school or community.
Families earning up to 300% of their area’s median income apply for Jewish day school scholarships.
Scholarships are awarded to families through their Jewish day school.
When you file your federal taxes, you receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for your contribution, up to $1,700 per taxpayer.
